With only 45 days of frost in the average year, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina offers visitors a pleasantly warm climate. Myrtle Beach vacation rentals are available 12 months of the year. This is ideal since the summer months here have 18 sunny days per month while the winter months average only three fewer days of sun.
As the city’s name suggests, there are ample beaches to enjoy along this stretch of the eastern seaboard, but visitors will also find several attractions that can be found nowhere else. The “Legends in Concert” show plays tribute to great musical artists of the recent past, including Aerosmith, Elvis, and the Blues Brothers. Nationally famous, this show has recently moved into new quarters at Broadway at the Beach. Since there are not many tourist destinations with quality celebrity impersonations, this show makes Myrtle Beach stand above the crowd. To enjoy music that is a little more traditional for South Carolina, the Carolina Opry offers four different shows to choose from.
Science and nature activities are also prominent in this coastal city. Ripley’s Aquarium, also located at Broadway at the Beach, lets children view not only fish that live in the nearby saltwater environments, but sharks and stingrays as well. The highlight of the aquarium is the underwater tunnel that allows guests to see fish swimming above them. A short distance away is Brookgreen Gardens, which features both a zoo and an interpretive center to help visitors learn about local plants and animals.
